“This year the DJ World Conference Mexico was held in Mexico City, the largest specialized Hub of the Mexican local scene where talents from all over Mexico coexist and connect related to Music Business. In this No.19 Edition, the best of the talent of the Mexican electronic scene was highlighted at the DJ Music Conference Awards Mexico 2018, in addition to a large expo, workshops, and the presence of global brands for over 3 days.”

We had the opportunity to speak with one of winners; an artist who was not only a star in these awards, but for some years now, he has been doing a consistent work in terms of music, exporting a great sound and locating the name of Mexico on the world House scene.
We are talking about B-Liv, who in addition to being the first electronic music artist in Mexico who has been included in a collection of Buddha Bar (Sounds of the Middle East) and having been nominated several times as “Best Mexican Dj (Dance) Clubbing Awards), “” Best DeepHouse Dj (World Conference Mexico) “, Best House Dj (Dj World Conference Mexico), this time he got one of the most important acknowledgement of the night:

B-Liv, we have followed your career and we know that you have achieved relevant things for a long time. Do you think you should have won this award before?

B-Liv: Hello, thank you very much for this special interview. I think music is what should come first and the awards come later, Our job (music) is what should speak for us. This award is just an effect and if it came at this time is because it should be. Things come when everything is in order and today I feel mature in my sound and in my career. I am happy to receive it at this moment of my professional life.

What does this award mean to you?

B-Liv: It means a lot. Beyond an award, it is a public appreciation award of a work I have been developing for many years.
Many people know that I was born in Colombia, but my career has been thanks to Mexico, and it is this beautiful country and this scene that I owe so much .
Part of this is my live act Techxturas Sonoras (Homage to the Past and the memory of Mexico). I consider myself a DJ and Mexican Producer, and that is the flag that goes with me as an artist around the world.
This award confirm me once again as “Mexican Artist”. “We are from where we are made and not from where we were born”.
It is a very important recognition, and it is a satisfaction that you have for a lifetime

Do not leave loose ends! The same day you received the award, you started with a song to the Top30 of Tech House in Traxsource. Tell us about that.

B-Liv: you make it look like part of my secret plans! ha! It was simply a beautiful coincidence, but very convenient chance. It’s my recent single called “Sax # 7”, which was edited by my My Own Beat label for the week of ADE in Amsterdam. The song was not part of the charts, but I think it was influenced because of the publicity of the nomination, and one night before the award I had a very important presentation for the anniversary of House 4 Love in Mexico City where I shared the stage with David Penn . Next day the song was up.
It’s a nice track full of TechHouse, Jazz and Jackin’ flavor. I love it.

Buddha Bar, is another great new this year. How do you feel about that?

B-Liv: You just said it. A Great new!, and it’s one of those nice things that can chase you for the rest of your life. We all know how important the Buddha Bar collections are; they are part of the musical POP culture of the 21st century. I have been a big fan of Buddha Bar for many years, and now being part of an artist’s collection is an honor and a privilege. It is something that I have not yet finished processing in my mind.
These cd s stays through the years, and now I am part of them with my song “Amanecer en el Llano”, which is the climax track; the one that ends the CD 2 of this beautiful pack titled “The Sounds of Middle Earth” mixed by Ivy V.

¿What’s next for B-Liv now?

B-Liv: Work and more work. Having been elected BEST DJ / BEST HOUSE PRODUCER in Mexico 2018, means that by 2019 I have to make an equal or better job, and I’m already working on that.
Presentations come with my Live from “Techxturas Sonoras” in North Carolina, Miami and Colombia. Many productions on the way with several international labels, including some things with inHouse by Todd Terry, City Soul in London, KingStreet by Nyc, Audiophile in Dallas and of course material that I am always releasing with my own label My Own Beat Records

Este año se celebró en Ciudad de México la DJ World Conference México, el Hub especializado más grande de la escena local mexicana donde conviven y se conectan talentos de todo México, relacionados con el Music Business.
En su Edición No.19, en la que además de una gran expo, talleres, y presencia de marcas globales a lo largo de 3 días, se reconoció lo mejor del talento de la escena electrónica Méxicana en los DJ Music Conference Awards Mexico 2018.

Tuvimos oportunidad de hablar con uno de ganadores; un artista que sin duda no solo fue protagonista en estos premios, sino que desde hace ya algunos años, ha venido haciendo un trabajo consistente en terminos musicales, exportando un gran sonido y poniendo en alto el nombre de México en la escena House mundial.

BSNYC, ¿Hemos seguido tu trayectoria y sabemos que has logrado cosas relevantes desde hace tiempo. ¿Crees que debiste haber ganado antes este premio?

B-Liv: Hola, mil gracias por esta entrevista tan especial. Creo que los galardones llegan después, y la música es lo que debe llegar primero. El trabajo es el que debe hablar por ti. Este galardón es un resultado y si llegó en este momento es porque así debía ser. Las cosas llegan cuando todo está alineado y hoy siento mucha madurez en mi sonido y en mi carrera. Me siento feliz de recibirlo en este momento de mi vida profesional.

BSNYC ¿Qué significa este premio?

B-Liv: Significa mucho. Más allá de un galardón, es el reconocimiento público a un trabajo que he venido desarrollando desde hace muchos años.
Muchas personas saben que yo nací en Colombia, pero mi carrera ha sido gracias a México, y es a este hermoso país y a su escena a quien le debo tanto.
Parte de esto es mi live act Techxturas Sonoras (Homenaje al Pasado y la memoria de México). Yo me considero un Dj y Productor Mexicano, y esa es la bandera que me acompaña como artista alrededor del mundo.
Este premio, me ratifica una vez más como “Artista Mexicano”. “Uno es de donde se hace y no de donde Nace”.
Sin duda es un reconocimiento muy importante, y es una satisfacción que te queda para toda la vida.

BSNYC No dejas cabos sueltos! El mismo dia que recibías el premio, entrabas con una canción al Top30 de Tech House en Traxsource. Háblanos de eso.

B-Liv: ja! lo haces ver como parte de mis planes secretos! ja! Simplemente se trató de una hermosa casualidad, pero muy conveniente casualidad. Es mi reciente single llamado “Sax#7”, el cual fue editado por mi disquera My Own Beat para la semana de ADE en Amsterdam. BSNYC- Buddha Bar, sin duda otra gran noticia este año. ¿Cómo te sientes al respecto?

B-Liv: Tu lo has dicho. Una gran noticia, y es una de esas lindas cosas que te pueden perseguir el resto de la vida. Todos sabemos lo importantes que son las colecciones de Buddha Bar; hacen parte de la cultura POP musical de siglo XXI. Yo mismo soy un gran fanático de Buddha Bar desde hace muchos años, y ahora, hacer parte como artista de una colección de ellos es un honor y un privilegio. Es algo que aún no termino de procesar.
Estos discos quedan en la historia, y yo ahora estoy ahí con mi canción “Amanecer en el Llano”, que es el track del climax; el que cierra el CD 2 de este hermoso pack titulado “The Sounds of Middle Earth” mezclado por Ivy V.

BSNYC ¿ Que viene para B-Liv ahora?

B-Liv: Trabajo y más trabajo. El haber sido elegido MEJOR DJ / MEJOR PRODUCTOR DE HOUSE de México 2018, significa que para 2019 debo hacer un trajo igual o mejor, y desde ya trabajo en eso.
Vienen presentaciones con mi Live de “Techxturas Sonoras” en Carolina del Norte, Miami y Colombia.
