Tens of thousands of fans began attending the Vive Latino music festival in Mexico City on Saturday despite the global spread of coronavirus and health officials warning against congregating in large groups.
The two-day festival sold over 70,000 tickets, according to event organizers. Despite some acts backing out, Guns N’ Roses were among the bands to play.
However, attendees were screened for fever as they entered the festival.
At least two festival-goers told The Associated Press they only went because organizers did not offer refunds on the tickets, which cost more than $225. Karina and Saúl, who did not give their last name, tried to sell their tickets but weren’t offered enough.
